Braving The Pandemic As A Child In Villages Of Ranthambore

by | Jan 25, 2021

In an attempt to enhance access to education in some of the most marginalized and neglected parts of rural Ranthambore, Gramin Shiksha Kendra (GSK) runs three schools – in Jaganpura, Girirajpura and Fariya, villages in the catchment area of Sawai Madhopur. GSK’s promotion of creative expression and critical thinking are rooted in its commitment to quality child-centric education. It is, therefore, that along with classroom teaching, students engage in learning through an array of co-curricular activities, including contributions to our monthly children’s magazine, ‘Morange’, with drawings, reflections, poems and stories.

The importance of this effort has been enhanced during the pandemic as perhaps the only outlet the children have, to share about their unique and often, quite difficult circumstances. As we bid adieu to the remarkable and incredibly challenging year that was 2020 – in this post, some of the students and teachers of GSK’s Community Schools share their COVID-induced experiences with you.
